A foreward by Surjit Pattar

In this book, Sukhvinder Jutla has translated Harjinder Pattar's and his own selected poems into English. It is very gratifying that these poems will be exposed to English readers world-wide. Another attractive feature of this book is that it is in both languages, English & Punjabi. Along with translation, the essence of the poems is preserved. For the reader who knows both languages, this may become a fountain that makes it doubly interesting.

Another important quality is that to publish a book in two languages demonstrates the self-confidence and boldness of the authors to risk exposing side by side translation to the critics of translation.

I congratulate the genius of both the poets and translators who undertook this initiative. In this age of translation, we truly have great need of such translators.
